Takin’ It To the Streets

November 6th, 2008

This past Tuesday, I voted like nobody’s business. You could even say I dry humped the vote. Of course it wasn’t always easy. At my polling station, the lever machine was broken. So I voted on a paper ballot. I cheated off the guy next to me. Luckily, he was voting for Obama too.

On Tuesday night I watched the election coverage in my apartment in my boxers. At 11 pm it was announced that Obama won. I heard cheering in my building, and saw crowds of people celebrating on TV. I wanted to be apart of the celebration. So I put on some shorts and shoes and ran out into the streets cheering loudly. Only nobody was there. I live on 59th street in Manhattan right across from the Queensboro bridge. Not a big party scene. The streets were completely empty. So I went back in my building and watched the rest of the coverage in my boxers. I’m a loser.

BUT I get a second chance to take it to the streets this Monday. (Nice segue, Latham.) For I will be co-hosting another installment of Street Meat with Heather Fink. And there’s no telling what topical bits we’ll bring to the table this time around. We’ve also got a solid lineup on board. Check it out.
